The Metropolitan Golf Club

Updating the website yourself

A short walk through the staff area, where you change the words and pictures on the club’s website, read enquiries, and send the newsletter. No developer needed, and nothing you do here can break the website.

Making a change, start to finish

Seven steps, from signing in to seeing your change on the live website. This is the whole thing.

  1. 01

    Open the staff area

Go to metropolitangolfclub.lumanaire.co.za/admin in any browser, on a computer or a phone. Bookmark it; you will come back to it often. If you are not signed in it takes you straight to the sign-in screen.

    Find your way around

This is the overview. The menu across the top is the whole system: Pages for the words and pictures on the website, Newsletter for the mailing list, Enquiries for messages from the contact forms, Applications for people applying to join, and Settings for the club’s details.

    Choose a page to change

Under Pages you get every page on the website. Click the one you want. The list tells you which pages have already been edited and which are still as we built them.

Every page on the website, in one list.

  5. 05

Pick the part of the page

A page is made of sections, in the order they appear on the website: the banner at the top, then the text, then the price tables. Use Edit to change one, the arrows to move it, the eye to hide it without deleting it, and the bin to remove it.

    Make the change

Each box is one thing on the page, with a plain description of what it is. Change the words, choose a different picture, add a row to a price table. Nothing happens to the website until you press Save.

    Save it

Press Save. It confirms that the change is live. Open the website in another tab and refresh: your change is there, usually within seconds.
